The use of a "glow" filter always seems like a good idea to me until I post it Note how your tree tops' colors change, especially in upper right. Aside from the sky/tree top problems, IMO the foreground stump on right is a little visually heavy for the golden mood of the rest.

I love the rippled reflections, textured grass, bare trees, direction of light.

Thanks for the critique Linda. Concerning those treetops. They did not change due to any filter. What is happening is the sky was clearing and there were patches of blue coming thru the white clouds. There was a storm the night before, but, no matter what the cause, those tree tops look crappy in the right corner, not to mention that blown out sky there. Suppose I could figure out a different crop.

Yes that stump may be too visually heavy. I was hoping for some foreground anchoring with it. Back to the drawing board.

Hi, Bmac,

Linda hit my basic comments.
I like the image...it’s mood is exactly that of many memories I have of bicycling in the Hill Country back in the ‘80s. In fact this image puts me in mind of a scene along the upper, southern reaches of “The Willow City Loop” North of Fredericksburg.
The Hill country was far and away my favorite part of Texas!

best regards
Dave

Much improved composition IMO. I now recall seeing similar result of small tree branches against sky in one of my own. I'd be tempted to use a layer and mask and de-saturate the blue around those tops in the two largest trees (middle to right), but if you're good, so am I

Thanks for taking a look Dave. After I read your post I tried to locate where exactly this photo was shot, but so far no luck. The Hill Country is definitely a rewarding area, but those floods can be brutal...turn around don't drown!

Happy Holidays to you and your family.

I like the redux crop better also, thanks to your discerning eye. No more work for me on it though......didn't like it much to begin with and times a'wastin!

Happy Holidays to you and your family Linda.

Good eyes Chuy. Until you mentioned it I never noticed it. Looks like a frame of some sort, who knows.

It's obviously an alien space craft and you are trying to cover up.

In agreement with Linda. That trunk on the right should not be there.
I find the colors over saturated for my taste but that is me. I am sure the image makes a great conversion to monochrome and it could be more appealing for others that way.
The blue colors on the branches look like chromatic aberrations to me but surely they should not be there.
