Need help with Topaz AI Clear

I bought this program and tried my best to follow the lengthy instructions. I have a small solid state C drive which is practically full, and a 2T D drive with 683 GB free. For that reason I have been installing programs on my D drive and haven't had many problems so far. Anyway, I installed Topaz Studio first like the instructions said, and then AI Clear was supposed to "flow" into the installation.

In Lightroom, I choose Photo, Edit In, Topaz Studio, then get the popup with the choices of what to edit. I leave it checked "Edit a Copy With Lightroom Adjustments", then click Edit. It prepares the file and renders a TIF but I'm still in Lightroom, no sign of Topaz. I know Topaz is installed and running because I can open the program, select any file and it brings it in for adjustment. It just won't work within Lightroom which is why I got it. The only help from Topaz is by email back and forth and the last comment I got was:

"Can you please remove the External Editor Preset you've created? Once you do this, please create a new External Editor Preset, but this time, configure the preset to use this file: C:\Program Files\Topaz Labs\Topaz Studio\Topaz Studio.exe" I have no idea what this means since I have not set up any External Editor Preset nor would I have any idea how to edit a new one. Does it mean Topaz won't work unless it's installed in C? I thought I would try my luck here before uninstalling and requesting a refund.

Your external editing presets must point to the proper application in order to launch it and pass it the file to edit.

Adding external editors is fairly easy in Lightroom, just go into preferences from the Lightroom menu upper left, select Preferences, and look at the EXTERNAL EDITOR section.... There you can create your external editor setups...

For Topaz Studio, note my settings... You will need to find the program file for your system, on a Windows machine it is Topaz Studio.EXE plus the path to it... you should be able to find it using the CHOOSE menu....when you then right click on an image and select EDIT IN you should be able to pick Topaz Studio, see Lightroom create an image and then launch Topaz Studio.

I am on an iMac, so C: D: E: F: mean nothing, but Studio and all my apps will launch from where ever I place them.

Thanks so much for your efforts to save this project. I followed your instructions as best I could but I fear I may have fouled something up in Lightroom itself. I'm going to contact Topaz, request a refund, and then enjoy my holidays. We'll see what happens. Thanks again for reaching out, I really appreciate it, Bob

Sorry to hear this. I have been using AI Clear with Lightroom. Once I click on edit in Topaz Studio, I need to click on the tab for Topaz Studio and it is there with the photo I am working on. Then I select AI Clear. When done, I hit "Save" and after it is done processing, I go back to Lightroom.

My thoughts on AI Clear. This product is a game changer. Enough so that I have been going back and trying on older images just to compare results with what I previously had. And the improvement is astonishing! I removes noise really, really well. And it sharpens really good too. I had been using DxO Prime Noise Removal, but AI Clear is rapidly changing how I work with images.

I looked at the initial version of A.I. Clear and saw I could do as good or better using Topaz Denoise, but looking again at the 2nd version (current) A. I. Clear does a great job and I bought a copy without thinking much at all.

I also have DXO for its prime noise removal and its raw conversion, as well as On 1 Raw 2019. I start out in Lightroom for everything, going to DXO from Lightroom for some, ON 1 from Lightroom for some and then finish in Photoshop for most everything, but everything starts and ends in Lightroom for me.
