My D7100 has 2 card slots. Recently, Slot #1 gave up the ghost and will no longer accept the SD card. So now, I have a single-slot camera. If I had only a single-slot camera to begin with, given the same circumstances I would be in line for an expensive repair or replacement. Maybe the 2nd slot is not meant to be a fall-back for a faulty 1st slot, but it sure saved me a good amount of dough...

I guess he only wanted high quality, beautiful pictures that he could blow up to giant sizes if needed. That’s all I get with my D7500. ... Cam

Respectively, you have never photographed a wedding or an event. The dual card slot provides safety/peace of mind!

Gotta love the sneakers.
Dual cards do not provide peace of mind. A backup camera does.

So now you have a 1 slot.

I don't understand the obsession with dual card slots when in reality there are so many other single points of failure in a digital camera. If you can see the image on your LCD panel, the memory card (SD, CF, etc) has captured it and stored it properly. The image displayed on the LCD panel is what is stored on the memory card.

If you paid attention when Nikon introduced the Z7, you would know that unless every camera has a dual card slot the sun may not rise in the morning.

If you turn the demo mode off and have a card in the camera.
Some people have forgotten both.

Re dual card slots generally. Do both capture the same image for each shutter click or can they be used selectively? I'm totally ignorant on this subject. Thanks.

On Nikons the second slot can be overflow, duplicates, or one raw and one jpg.

I received an email notification from The New Camera Website, that Nikon is discontinuing the manufacturing of both the D5500 and D7200 DSLRs. The D5500 was superseded by the D5600, and the D7100 was superseded by the D7200 in early 2015. The D7500 was supposedly the successor to the D7200? The D7500 is said to be better than the D7200. Nikon made the D7500 with one SD card slot. The D7200 has dual SD slots. It does have a faster fps, and a better processor. The D7200 will live on. It is one of the most mentioned DSLRs on this forum. What will replace it, who knows?
I received an email notification from The New Came... (show quote)

I always thought of the D7500 as the "Junior" version of the D500 rather than an upgraded D7200...

What is the “New Camera” website and what is their official status vis a vis Nikon Corporation?
Better you should consult the Nikon website for accurate information regarding their products.

I don't like the single card slot -- my D7100 has two, but my D200 has only one -- but the fact that the D7500 is not completely compatible with my manual focus Nikkors is more of a dealbreaker.
