I took a photography class at a local college and our last portfolio had to have a theme. I decided that firefighters might be fun. I went to two of the houses in my city and thought I would share the photos. I used black and white because I liked it better than the color photos.

Nice job. My favorite is the last one. "Job done. Back to the station to wait for the next call". And I wonder how long it will be...

Unfortunately, not long enough!

Having spent 31 years as a professional firefighter/paramedic I had fun checking those out. Thanks.

I had such a great time. Took over 100 pictures but had to narrow it down for the assignment. If you’d like to see more, send me a private message

I'll bet the first engine, the one with the tailgate flag, has all the routes without overpasses figured out.

Seriously, great set representing a hard and difficult job needs.

An excellent set. This subject deserves more PR and would be more interesting than many of the news items that are pushed out onto the airways. Mahalo for sharing.

I made an artistic choice. Since these portray “spring into action”, I felt that B&W added to the gravity of the situation when a call was received. Since I spent several hours with them, I watched them go from the “fun loving” mode to “now we have to be serious, lives may be at stake” mode. They are truly awesome and deserve our thanks both in color and black and white.

Such a collection of dull, washed out black and whites. A terrible waste of an opportunity to show very vivid colors. Why pursue such an outdated method? After all is this not the twenty-first century?
