I purchased this product a month or so ago. It has had several updates since then. It is the latest version of genuine fractuals. (Spelling?). It is a great piece of software if you need to enlarge a file for printing purposes. Remember garbage in garbage out, but if you have a good file with detail this product does wonders... My real concern is the last update is causing the program to crash when taking a small file 30 kbs or and increasing to 400% the program just crashes. I did find a work around by just increasing by 150% then doing it several time for the desired outcome. I have a fairly robust computer I7, with 32gb of memory and a robust video card with additional 2 gb of memory. Just wondering if anyone else has tried this and has had similar experiences???

There is another thread running at the moment re Topaz AI. Not quite the same question, but you may find some pertinent information.

Thank you, however, that thread is a different product, That product is editing software. The Product my post is about is a stand alone enlarging software program, similar to the former genuine fractuals program.

I just purchased AI Gigapixels as well with the nice holiday discount being offered. It works well on some images. I was watching a video about it and remember the guy (sorry, can't recall who it was) recommending something about increasing the image size incrementally. So, it seems to be a known issue. I tried increasing one of my images by 400% in one step and didn't encounter any problems. The problem must be image specific.

I haven't tried it on images that small. The problem is caused by lack of data in small images. Knowing a bit of the mathematics lying beneath the surface of this application, which has been around for quite sometime, one needs to have a sufficient amount of information for the program to process it. The work around is incremental enlargement. However, your mileage may vary, as the lack of sufficient data points hampers the 'crisp' appearance of a sufficiently large image.

I have own this for a while now and haven't had any problems enlarging any size to any size it allows me to pick . For example - I just enlarged a 39 kb file size photo selecting the 600% Tiff 16 bit enlargement with no problems . Now the file size is 2.09 mb . Picture looks great . I am very pleased with this program and have been since I bought it . I built my own computer since I do computer repairs in my area . Every piece of hardware inside the computer is very fast I installed . Maybe that makes a difference .Tommy

My own experience is that Topaz AI Gigapixel is a little hinky, and will error out intermittently. I've had the program freeze as well and sit there doing absolutely nothing. However (with some persistence) the results are amazing. My PC mirrors yours (Intel i7 and 32 GB RAM), and the program is able to use my AMD Radeon Graphics card. The latest version is by far the most stable, but IMHO it's still a product early in the development cycle. Also, it's unrelated to Genuine Fractals which is made by OnOne and is now named Perfect Resize.

I have changed my name prefix from Mr. to Ai. If as you say Topaz AiGigapixel similar to On-1 Genuine Fractal, then a competitively equivalent software "Photozoom" [last years edition] by BenVista using S-Spline Max interpolation can be had for $20 [reverence below]. It would be interesting to see side by side results. Photozoom and On-1 both put all other enlargement software, far behind in previous studies.

Indeed today's software is hungry for memory and CPU % as well as Graphic Card Memory...

I have tried 400% and could not print. I stay at lowest and works well. This is when AI helps us all in stead of being a torture.

Thank you Bob, I think you have hit the nail on the head. The image probably didn't have enough information to process the larger request. It did however respond to the 150% increase then I repeated several time to get the desired outcome. These were not my images an I was helping a friend that needed these for his website. In the end all is well.

My concern was that the program just plain crashed when I did the import and asked for a 400% increase. The program never did that before the last update. I guess we will see. Topaz is good about their updates and more than likely will create a patch. Meanwhile I got the job done.

Thank you for reminding me, I forgot that was a One1 product, very sorry to all and the manufacture of the perfect resize. Which I have, darn it. Anyway this AI gigapixel is much better at resizing... And I do like One 1 products and have the latest version of their software.

Oh I agree, When I have enough time to make a comparsion I may give that a shot... I just know that I have used perfect resize in the past and the results were not so good. This product is very good at increasing size. But as I said in the beginning, garbage in, garbage out... Got to start with a good image because if it is bad it will only get worse....
