I have An Epson Artisan 1430 printer and have used original Epson up until now. The cost of the six ink cartridges has varied from $80 something up to $130 something. The latest from Amazon was $175.00. No way am I paying that kind of money. I've beginning to investigate ink tank systems such as XPROIV Series but am still concerned about off brand ink. Several reviewers who claimed to own my printer said the system works great and they can't tell the finished prints from Epson ink versions. I know that Epson does make some printers with the system built in but am wondering why they don't make an add on for existing machines. Have any of you used such a system and how has it worked out for you .

I only use OEM ink and paper. Printing your images can be an expensive process and when you start cutting corners the quality suffers.

Looking them up, I found InkXPro.com. Regarding the Epson Artisan 1430 printer, I found XProV “T79” basic inkjet cartriges for $39.95, XProV basic continuous ink systems for $79.95 and XProV continuous pigment ink systems for $99.95. They also have continuous systems for Dye Sublimation ink which they warn is not intended for regular printing such as photos. Looks like an interesting idea, but if it works so well, why aren’t many other venders offering similar systems?

O.k., you are going to receive a lot of crap from a lot of people who do not know what they are talking about. You will also get a lot of info from people who do know what they are talking about but you may not know the difference. I too, own an Epson 1430 printer. I have been using the same ink supplier for almost 20 years now. PM me if you really are interested in finding a good source for economical ink from an educated supplier.

There are a fair amount of ink suppliers that many on this forum have had good results with. Some of those users will post here no doubt. Go ahead and tell everyone about the supplier you have good luck with, no need to keep it a secret.

I have used used 1INK.COM for years with very successful results in my ancient
HP Deskjet 5440 and my much more recent HP All-in-One Officejet Pro 8600.
Their stuff is unconditionally guaranteed to be equal to the OEM product,
and my experience supports their claim. Before 100 people post to trash my
approach, let me just say this:I pay about 30% of the OEM price. If I had lots
of disposable income, I would absolutely buy OEM everything, but those
of us on limited budgets have to do more with less. For people like me
this issue is not about aesthetic purity; it's about cash flow... period. >Alan

Using off-brand ink can be hit or miss. Look for a brand that works well with that particular printer. Get recommendations from people who use generic ink in that printer.

I've been using a bulk-tank Epson ET-4550 I bought at Costco for $450.00 (I think that was the price, it's been a couple of years). I bought 4 bottles (16 oz) of ink (4 colors) for less than $15.00 each. I do a LOT of printing (self-publish books, class materials, etc.) and in two years have yet to use all of the ink. The reason I went for the more expensive bulk tank printer is the cost of the ink cartridges. I'm not telling you the best printer is the ET-4550 but I'd be surprised if in the last 2 years there are not other good quality bulk-tank printers that have come on the market. Take care & ...

I’ve been using InkOwl.com ink in their refillable cartridges for about 2 years ..... and have been really happy with them ...... and it dropped my ink cost to about 10% of Epson’s cost .... I have an Epson R2880 .... when I did the first photo print with the Ink Owl ink .... it was the same photo as done with the Epson ink .... and I was not able to discern any difference .... even with good lighting. My printer has 8 cartridges and it takes about an hour to refill them.

You need to do a thorough web search.

The cost from Epson is $20.99 for Black to $23.09 each for color cartridges.

Prices are slightly less at IT Supplies.

Whatever you do use original manufacturer's cartridges. Just my $0.02.
