Over a year ago, but it was a great Colorado ride, highlighted by a surprise stop.

It looks like you found a very pleasant corner to capture. It looks a bit on the dark side on my screen. Maybe if you restore some of the brightness and concentrate on lowering the highlights it might come closer to what you had in mind.

Was the surprise behind the door? A pretty scene and one I'd be curious to see slightly edited to R.G.'s suggestion.

Thanks R.G. One of our screens is betraying us!

Linda from Maine, I think, had the same thoughts as you. I had the highlights low to begin with but did kick up the exposure. See the reply to her post. Thanks.

It definitely has a more summery and carefree mood. As you alluded, people may see differently depending on monitor, their room brightness, etc. For me, this re-do is maybe just a teensy bit too far

I’m looking at the lighter and darker versions and thinking that somewhere in between would be more striking. Given the two, I’ll opt for the darker image.

I like the photo a lot as it is, and have a suggestion: have you thought about cropping off the building on the right? I think that would give more emphasis to the primary subject, the larger building.

But. as stated, really like the photo.

One last virtual copy..... with slightly less brightness.... I personally liked the inclusion of the small building on the right... but half the fun of digital is the freedom of digital.

For me the little structure on the right helped balance the composition, added depth and gave my eye a place to travel. I'm still waiting to hear if the surprise was inside the building

I agree, Linda. As soon as I exported from the virtual copy, pushed the right crop back where it started. It's nice enough here in Colorado today that perhaps I can repay a visit and answer your question for both of us.

I don't have much of a problem with the re-post. It was obviously a bright scene on a sunny day. The lighting's a bit harsh, but you don't need to make everything look like it was shot during the Golden Hour. I would say #2 needs just the smallest of tweaks to darken it slightly, rather than trying to kill the harshness altogether.
