I don't spend a whole lot of time on the internet, this site being about the only one I stop at regularly. I have a number of "hobbies" or interests to keep me busy. I'm just finishing up a monster project I took on way last spring: one of my dairy farm contacts had an enormous building project he wanted me to record. By the time all was said and done I had over 2400 images. I culled them down to 440 and just now put everything together, except for the music, for a DVD slide show, so I probably will get the finished product to him by Christmas. Sure is good to see the light at the end of the tunnel on this project. So. for those of you that wonder what other photographers do with their pictures: I do my best to have, at least some, under contract, and provide a product and enjoyment to others. Thanks for listening....
Preaching to the choir, always nice to complete a large, long project. Am somewhat curious out of 2,400 shots and 440 of the best, you chose the one you did to post here?

I hope that's not one of the 440... I have shots of several dozen timber framed 'century barns' showing the joinery. One has floor beams 14"x16" x75' long (single stick) and another has siding where some of the boards are 32" wide. Don't find trees like that today.

We seem to be on a similar path, I just finished a DVD project with 1,980 keeper photos which is in production now and due to be delivered this week. We were almost done in February last year before it grew in size and went from a single DVD to a Dual DVD package. Anxious to see what others do with the photos, I have no specific plans now. My situation is different in that it is making a slide show of a history display of old photos and documents in addition to personal photos of the geographic area. Many are photos of photos mounted on boards that can't be removed so I don't own the original but have made copies of public posted items.
I was hoping that someone would list the software used... I've never done large presentations, but have use PowerPoint (LibreOffices' equivalent). There is likely an alternative out there.
Thanks for any info.

I used Pinnacle Suite 21 and found it very easy to use once you understood the basic options. It gives so many options and makes music and/or voice over a breeze. Additionally, they have an on-line support where you leave an e-mail and they will respond back with detailed instructions to explain how to perform your task.

Check out Pro Show Producer or the cheaper Gold version, great system for doing stills and video. I have used it for years.
I'm not in my office right now, so I'll get back on the soft ware. CyberLink I think. Late last night when I made that post, with no intention of attaching a photo, That was a last second deal, just grabbed one. I'll be home later today and fix things then.....
I went to the CyberLink website and it looks good but I didn't see anything about whether it works with Windows or Mac. Does anyone know if it works with both?
Thank you.
If you are an Adobe CC subscriber you can still get Encore CS6, it is really the only DVD authoring program worth using.
ProShow Gold.... dedicated to such projects. Terrific support with great hand holding. Handles all functions of producing a great slide show, with complete time line control, sound track, narration. incredible transitions with timing of individual slides/transfer/and music.
I was making relatively long slide shows within a short time, and with great support.

I agree - ProShow Gold is very good.
