Our office uses a communal tg4 for work. It’s been tossed around, dropped, used in rain/snow/excessive heat, and traveled 1000’s of miles via air...and it keeps on ticking. The tg5 is supposedly even better.

Try looking at the Olympus TG-5. Relatively small, rugged, waterproof, 25-100 zoom in 35mm terms, and affordable. Also, Panasonic has put out a tough camrera (SF-7?) that might be worth looking at.
Try the Ricoh GRII. It has an APS-C sensor and you can purchase a small viewfinder. The downside is that it is fixed 28mm lens but definitely fits in your pocket and the images are really good for a small camera!
I literally wrote the book on the TG-4 ("The Compleat Olympus TOUGH TG-4 & TG=850) and it's a fine full-featured camera. Its only weakness is that the sensor is not large enough to produce enlargements of *x10 or larger that are razor sharp. For that, I rely on my Sony RX100, and model of which can do this job nicely, but of course they're not weatherproof or waterproof.
On thing that often missed is that the TG-4 is an idea cameras for preschoolers. They can bring it to school, allow friends to use it, with very little risk. Any kid that can be trusted with an iPad can do a great job with TG-4. If was on the lookout for for a used one for my 5 year-old grandson whom I let use my Olympus Stylus 1s with great success, but the Samys camera in Los Angeles started selling the Panasonic Lumix TS30 for $99.95 with no tax on the purchase. The TS30 is about half the size of the TOUGH cameras but is also weatherproof, shockproof, and waterproof to 24 feet. He'll be getting his camera this week, and I'll tell you whether it can stand up to being used by a very active 5-year old and permit him to produce really nice photos.

Both my kids have older Olympus tough cameras (TG 600 series I believe) since they were 8 and 6 (Girl and Boy). Both cameras are still going strong, and they've put them through the works. Including swimming underwater in chlorinated hotel pools and using down waterpark slides (alright, I'll admit, that was me using it for that).
I have a couple. One is a Panasonic with a Leica zoom and a Sony 20megapix with a zoom. Both purchased a Goodwill for less than twenty $ with no battery(s). Neither has a wide angle or very long lense. My iPhone takes better (sharper) images.
Newer crop are few and far between because cell phones have the compact cameras on the run. There is an old Nokia
That came with s 40 meg camera!
