I just got around this morning to start familiarizing myself with my new D7200 buttons, controls, etc. I have both of David Bush's books, (full & compact versions), on the D7200. This is the issue that I've encountered. I depress the metering mode button and rotate the main command dial in attempts to change the metering mode but nothing changes in the top display. Is this a flaw in the camera or am I doing/not doing something wrong/correctly? Thanks.
The D7200 needs to be in either manual, aperture, shutter speed, or P Mode in order to change your metering. Use the top mode dial and turn to one of these settings and it should work. Does not work in Auto or Scenic mode.
When you depress the metering mode button the top screen should clear completely except for the little graphic in the lower left corner. As you rotate the command dial the icon should change while the rest of the screen stays empty. Hope this helps.

Yep, that worked.
Thanks a million! Maybe David should have included that in his book. I was really hoping that it wasn't a flaw of the camera.
Glad I could help. You are going to love the camera.
