piggybacking converters

somebody brought it up so i just had to try it.paired two pro optic 2x converters together on my sony a-550.the pics look passable to me,two of sony's better copnverters might give me better images.i used what i had.

500mmreflex 2x+2x
500mmreflex 2x+2x...

75-300mm kit lens 2x+2x
75-300mm kit lens 2x+2x...

minolta 100-300mm2x+2x
minolta 100-300mm2x+2x...

kit 300mm2 2x+2x
kit 300mm2 2x+2x...

500mm reflex redone
500mm reflex redone...

there is a much better, cheaper and sharper way to get closer to your subjects - stacking converters would not be my 1st or 3rd choice.

five yrs ago i would've agreed with you,but today walking fifteen feet or climbing four stairs is a major painful effort.we photo bugs try a lot of things,i could afford a 300mm G lens but,this was a "oh what the hell" and "because i could" deal.
