I saw this in the garden recently & couldn't let it go. What a fantastic structure. And it held together for these shots. Not to mention that it was a few less weeds for next season. Taken with my new Sony P&S in the macro mode. Had to do it one handed so a bit shaky.

Weed seed head???

They are all good. #1 is great, good choice of background, perfect exposure. My crticism? Crop a little from the right to lose the brown object. Use your clone tool to touch in all the remaining areas to get a matching black across the background.

Beautiful shots, especially the last one. Great job. Keep up the good work.

That's my garden gnome you want me to crop out!! He'll be offended. lol. The back ground was black steel security mesh. Didn't reflect but did let a bit of the window reflection thru. It was a spontaneous set of pic's. I saw this seed thing ready to go in the wind & stayed intact when I plucked it. I grabbed the camera & experimented. These were the best tho not Nat Geo standard. They tell the story to me. The outer parts are their means to scatter on thee wind [sails] & the inner seed clump on the end of the shaft. Fascinating structure when you analyse it. Made by mother nature.

Oh! Bunko. How could I have ever considered cropping out your gnome. If only I known, I hope you kept my comments a secret, I would not want to spoil his day. Keep shooting and thanks for the humor.
