Christmas decorating allows me the opportunity to enjoy a few interests. Modeling, toy trains, and of course photographing it all.

For the past two Mondays Chuck conducted his annual homeschool woodworking class for the older three grandchildren while the two youngest did a project in the kitchen. This year they decorated pinecone Christmas trees. 8yo Lydia did the one on the left and 6yo Luke the one on the right. I think they did a wonderful job!

Eastport (Annapolis, MD) Yacht Club Boat Parade - view from shore and what's really behind the scenes. People spend months preparing for this annual event.

These are very cool Sue and a wonderful idea for children. If I may ask, where did you get the giant pinecones? This looks like a great project for my 10 year old autistic grandson.

Christmas tree at the Bok Tower Gardens near Lake Wales, FL composed of many Bromeliads. "Tree" stands about 12 ft tall.

We found them in Myrtle Beach years ago and brought back a garbage bag full of them. I'm pretty sure you can also find them in craft stores and JoAnn Fabrics, although they might be scented. We used plastic beads for the decorations and Chuck cut small wood blocks for the presents. I've done this craft several times at church (remember that bag of cones?) and the kids always enjoyed it.
