Thanks folks for the kind words.
I called it a Black Capped because that's what somebody told me. I have no idea if that is correct. I just call this one Sam, and that might be short for Samantha.

- Location - even though ranges overlap barely. They may interbreed in overlapped ranges. Black-capped prefer higher elevations. Carolina prefer valleys & foothills.
- Voice - Black-capped call is low & slow. Carolina is high & fast.
- Physical appearance - broad white edges on wing more apparent on Black-capped. Tails usually level or higher. Carolina the tail is held level or lower.
Bottom line, it is very difficult to tell the difference fro a photo only without the location of the photo.
