Keep in mind that NYC is the locus of the Lion's share of advertising agencies, thus the proliferation of pay work.
Sort of like London in the NK

I agree Thomas. In the world of novice or casual modeling, I also noticed that when a pro (several cameras, lens bag, stobe, helper, ID dangling from the neck), models will casually walk by to be noticed and many do.

I also agree that there is no commercial demand for street, it is a hobby to some, artistic adventure for others, but no money.

Thanks!

Thank you Thomas for providing the links to more of travelwp's street photography. I was in my element viewing most of them. I hope to return from time to time to see them all. It gives me a sense of the places as I haven't yet visited that part of the world.

I also follow your portraiture work on here with great admiration. Keep them coming, please.

Heather, most of my street photographs are taken with the Sony RX100m5. It has a zoom lens and I take most of my shots between 24 and 35mm.

I did take a couple of 2018 photo shoots, but I did take the bulk of them in 2017 and before. One of the reasons is that I am in love with Times Square and New Hope PA for street photographs. Where I live, I can spend hours on the street for maybe one good photo, in Times Square good shots come buy every minute.

Thanks for your interest.

Thanks trafvelwp for your response and the information.

Thomas has provided the other links that I missed and I am busy viewing them. I can see why you hang out in Times Square as it is like our Oxford Street which is too far from me now that I am retired and photography is my hobby. Anyhow, I just love your photos and hope that there will be more in 2019.

Totally love your macro-photography folio on https://heybugdoctor.smugmug.com/ Simply amazing!
You are truly a master of this craft... I am awestruck at the level of detail latent in your macro work...
So way beyond 1:1 And you are a brave soul to get up so close to the final images of that ominous black widow...

You work is an enchanting widow into a world seldom seen... thank you so much for sharing it...
looking forward to more of your macro artwork...

Thanks for sharing your work and lighting diagrams. I'm really being inspired that you are getting images like this with the pop up flash, and others with just a reflector.

"...getting images like this with the pop up flash, and others with just a reflector..." Ben I'm a major fan of keeping it simple if at all possible... have past through the studio lighting phase and now enjoy the challenge of location work... albeit without a lighting assistant it can be (and typically is) a very serious challenge. Most all of my kit has been paid for by assisting the top commercial shooters in my market... these many years of assisting experience were virtually priceless...

btw, I'm a fan of your "People and Faces" folio on your web site... beautifully done, you have mastered your craft extremely well... and thanks so much for your very kind words Ben they are to be cherished...

Thanks so much Bina... it truly helps to have an inspirational talent to collaborate with...
Synergy here is to be cherished...

And welcome to UHH Bina...
Like you dance (especially ballet) is a passion...

In fact this talent began her ballet journey at age 3...
She danced on pointe in the lead role of Clara in the Nutcracker with the Donetsk Ballet of Ukraine partnering with Viktor Yeliohin.

She has now migrated into fashion editorials... At its zenith fashion modeling is a dynamic multi-dimensional art... it becomes an extension of a model's persona, his/her ability to visualizing a narrative to underscore its meaning and translate concepts into compelling metaphors...

Dancers as well as fashion models are thespian of considerable merit, elegance and charismatic allure...

all the best on your journey Bina

Hello Thomas, yes totally agree with what you are saying and you have been very fortunate to work with very experienced dancers. The dancers that I have been photographing in my studio and at the theatre are young talent and I have a few favourites that I keep asking back. I only started working in my studio last Summer and lighting etc is all new to me so lots to learn and lots of experimentation for me which I LOVE!! This Summer I will be doing a lot more outside location shoots on the local beaches here and street photography so I shall be reading through the forums to pick up as man tips as I can. No doubt, we shall speak again.

Thank you for such kind words gym... they are deeply appreciated coming from a master of the craft... I am humbled by your amazing macro photography... You have a brilliant array of imagery of this genre on your web portal...

One rather poignant image of what appears to be an engorged female Anopheles mosquito invoked the chilling reality that a half million die annually from Falciparum malaria alone... Plasmodium is possibly one of the most terrifying current threats to the human race...

Again it is wonderful that you've made such a herculean effort to document another world so seldom seen...

Wishing all the best on your journey gym
