Winter with a touch of hoar frost

I travelled out west this summer to supervise the demolition of an old cottage that had been standing vacant and unheated for at least 30 years. Inside I found a shoebox full of old slides of mine. Many had suffered from mold, but others, especially the ones in the boxes supplied by Kodak, were in decent condition, or at least salvageable. Here are a few that were taken with my father’s rangefinder camera, a Regula IIID, about 10 months before I bought my first SLR in October of 1968.

WIZARD, I have already overworked my brain trying to remember where exactly I took these photos.

Mike, Thanks! They have probably stood the test of time better than I have.

What a find! #3 hints at a story long forgotten.

Linda, You are so right. In there were slides of friends with whom I long ago lost touch and of others who passed away years ago. # 3 intrigues me, but I cannot remember where exactly this photo was taken.

Love winter scenes like these when I am sitting by the fireplace. Interesting to zoom in on #3 and ponder the letters! Nice find.

Linda, Thank you for your comments! Wish that I could remember exactly where the photo was taken (I know that it is at least 1700 miles from where I live now). Then, maybe one day I could return to the area again to see how the gravestone has survived. With some luck it might be another day with hoar frost and I could at least try a few different compositions. BTW, my appreciation of winter has wilted over the years and I'm with you on the fireplace.
