About 18 inches. Really don’t want to think about shoveling this mess.

Wow!
I am in Morganton NC and we have 14 3/4 inches. Going to try to dig out our cars today. I guess you may have more snow today. Ours is just rain now.

Just a minor winter storm for up here in New Hampshire! However, I totally sympathize as the news reports it's a heavy, wet snow that in some cases turned to rain making it even heavier. There's nothing worse to shovel, especially by hand.

In the Lehigh Valley, in the 30 years I've lived here, there have been winters with half a dozen small 4-6" snows and other winters with a lot of snow. Two years ago we had only three measurable snows, a couple of 4" ones and a 30" snow. Well, my snow blower can handle 20" --- maybe 24", but 30 was undoable. We had a service dig us out. I can tell you I would take that kind of winter every year if possible! Once and done -- the small snows were easily shoveled off to the side of the driveway and the big one was taken care of. I never had to crank up the snow blower at all!

Years back Houghton Hancock,Michigan in the upper peninsula for average snowfall with 274 inches per year they would remark we’ve got 10 months of winter and two months of tough sledding.

Yup....Global Warming. I have a summer home in Maggie Valley, NC. Although it is winterized and I am in Florida now, I received a text message from Duke Energy on Saturday, that the power was out at my house. Yesterday, I received a second text message saying that they hoped to get all power back up by the 13th. I tried to call my neighbor several times, and the message was that "the number you have dialed is not in service at this time." They got it bad!

Was it that heavy wet variety or the nice fluffy stuff ?? I will predict wet and heavy (to shovel).

Here in the Raleigh area we got about eight inches on Sunday with another two inches Monday. This is the wettest, heaviest snow you can imagine it is simply slush from the time it hits the ground. I have spent the past fourteen winters in the Colorado Rockies skiing, there we measure snow in feet (not inches); however, during the winter months I am there (Jan & Feb) it is usually a light powder snow so I am familiar with snow in its many forms.
Its now Tuesday morning and I see sunshine, looking forward to seeing the end of this. Will be heading west on Jan 3, hoping for a good weather window to get across the country as we appear to be getting one storm after another.
