Right, but what does "warm up" mean? Twenty minutes of half a minute? I put it in gear and drive gently. My problem is that after driving 1/4 mile, I get onto the highway and have to accelerate uphill, so I wait for a clear road.
Just a comment...putting premium gasoline in a car that requires only regular is a complete waste of money. If it specifies premium in the manual, then premium should be used. Premium burns a little slower in the the combustion chamber to reduce knocking in higher compression ratio engines.
Uh, get an electric. No warm up or any kind of fossil fuel and very little lube required.
I disagree with numbers 2, 6, 9, and 10. Don't forget that those who put the oil life monitors in the cars also supply the extended powertrain warranties.
I have been using and will continue to use AMSOIL Signature Synthetic oil and the 25,000 mile filter once a year or 25,000 miles (whichever comes first). Since it is the first synthetic oil on the market and continues to outperform all other oils, to me it is a no brainer. My last SUV, a 1999 Ford Expedition, I drove for the last eighteen years and ended up with almost 400,000 miles. I sold it to my next door neighbor and he uses it as a work truck.
This past summer he drove it up to New Hampshire and when he returned, he asked me if I will save my present vehicle for him because he is so happy with the Expedition.
Number 9, Holding the Shifter. The Magliozzi brothers, Tom and Ray, have been telling us for years why we shouldn't do this.
couldn't get past number one, if the person giving the advice is a senior editor and doesn't know or catch the difference of break vs brake, the rest of the article can't be worth much!!
“Your car’s suspension is great at soaking up imperfections in the road, but it has a breaking point. Sometimes it’s impossible to avoid potholes, but driving through them at any speed faster than a crawl can bend wheel rims and brake struts.” — Matt Smith, senior editor
