Mare's Tails in Sky

When I was a girl scout (OK, I was drummed out) we were taught that mare's tails in the sky indicated a change in the weather. This a beach in eastern North Carolina at dusk. Please criticize, I'll tell you if you are right. (??) :-D :-D

Mares Tails better known as Cirrus clouds if I remember my geography schooling

Maybe up the brightness a bit.

Sure, you could do that, NiagaraJim. But more brightness would strip the pic of the 'at dusk' look. That's my opinion anyway. Take a shot at adding whever you wish and repost.

Clouds look fake to me. Mare tails look different to this normally.

Yep, you nailed it, Lucian. The clouds were added to a boring beach scene. I should have darkened the clouds to make them more realistic, but this was just a fun exercise. Maybe NiagaraJim was right, too. By brightening the whole pic I might have gotten it accepted as the genuine article. Here's my attempt at that but it does not work for me:

I was going to sat the same thing. They look like they were airbrushed in. Nice idea though. I would have cloned out the structure in the water as well.

You guys are too smart. Yep, the clouds were airbrushed in during post processing. I agree on the water structure, no interest there. Good stuff.

Your technique for adding the clouds is very good though. I think the patterning structure to the clouds and the color wasn't quite exact enough. The softness and texture was great as a cloud. I think most people would accept them as real. It was your question that also set the viewer to looking deeper into the composition.
