If it were mine I would consider cropping it in half almost, turning it into a vertical format and just clipping the full leaf so it also was cut off. I think I would leave the yellow flower. It doesn't bother me because of the shades of yellow in the background. Just my thoughts.🙂

Thank you for your thoughts Linda.

So far all of the critiques have addressed post processing and editing. I think the real problem with this photograph occurred before the shutter was pressed. You have a lovely subject here (I love flowers) but I question the camera position which conceals much of the beauty of the flower. A higher angle would have revealed the beautiful centre of the flower and allowed you to eliminate many of the vivid, and distracting, flowers in the background. Depending on how you positioned the camera, the yellow flower would be gone. But I have just done what I often object to - critiqued the picture you didn't take. To salvage this one I would radically crop until the pink blossom covered more than 50% of the image, then I would dodge those very dark flowers in the background until they cease to overpower the subject.

Interesting critique Mcveed. Thank you.

Mcveed has hit the nail or daisy on the head.Your not showing it at its best. Also a larger aperture would have blurred the background more and also increased shutter speed. 250 is quite slow when taking a subject outside which can easily move in the slightest breeze

4Hi, BMac,
First off...good to see you back!

I like feeling of your image, and I agree with Tjohn re: the yellow flower and the idea of two entire leaves or no leaves.
Good composition and hue relationships.

Good to be back Dave but I am kinda surprised by the lack of created topics in the forum. Couldn't keep up with them all in the past. This section seems rather quiet also.

Anyway, thanks for the critique and I agree. Sometimes you think you have a decent image and then after listening to what others say you are..."well what the hades was I thinking." Maybe I will do a new edit and post it. Cheers
