I see that many of you can determine how many shots
were taken from a particular camera, independently of
its brand.
I searched in my Canon T6 manual and did not find any
bit of information on it.
Please, how do you do it ? Thanks in advance.

I think that you can go to shuttercount.com and download a recent photo and it will read the shutter count from the data?

Go to Google and enter

check shutter count canon t6

You'll get several hits that will explain how to determine the shutter actuations.

Pretty sure most Canon’s need to read the shutter count via a USB connection and special software. I use shutter count from Direstudio https://www.direstudio.com/shuttercount/, it works great on my 80D.

Nikon’s include the shutter count in the EXIF of every image, which is why you can upload an image to a site that tells you the count, OR just learn to read the EXIF data and see it for yourself.

Not for Windows, though, apparently.

It puzzles me. I will try to find by performing a search.
I do not think the metadata would carry such a detailed
information.
Thanks both of you. Cheers.

Only options available are for Apple devices. I use a Windows system. Thanks, anyway.

Yes. I will check it on Canon's website. They have a program that
is used to manipulate the camera settings through USB connection.

Sorry, I was not aware Direstudios shuttercount was only MAC...there are other utilities that will do the same thing, Eosmsg comes to mind.

I really don’t know why every camera does not make shutter count available easily either on the lcd screen or by including the info in EXIF.

Pretty much every camera out there includes it in the Exif data except for Canons, they are the only holdout.

There used to be a Windows version of Shutter Count by Dire but they have dropped it.

Have you changed your camera's file numbering format? There are several options, but, the factory default is for each photo to be numbered in sequence. If, for example, you are on photo 24,601 then that is how many photos have been taken by the camera. Provided you bought the camera new, since you wouldn't know what a previous owner may have done. Deleting photos in-camera does not change the numbering.

Canon, at least, rolls over at 9999 if you have enabled continuous numbering. With some booking the shutter count could be determined.
