I captured this view a few years back. I travelled from the east to west in February, so I was used to the colder temperatures that the GC offered during that month. This photo was taken from the South Rim during a light snow shower. Camera was hand held.
I will be traveling to Yellowstone next May and am I determined to bring my new aluminum tripod and remote. The one that I owned during the time of this trip was very heavy and included a rail for macros so not very practical.

I really like that shot. (except I hate snow) Seriously though it's a wonderful image and the hint of more story to tell in the distance is a bonus.

I got a Manfrotto MePhoto travel tripod which fit in my suitcase nicely and really came in handy. Where are you staying? In or outside of the park?
Yes, the older version of what I'm currently using, the EM1 Mark II. Thank you for offering the tripod. I purchased an aluminum one and it's much easier to handle and use. I actually purchased a bus tour through triple A, flying into Grand Rapids. My goal is to photograph all the beautiful scenery and wild life I see posted here on UHH. I've got six months to 'get good or go home'. (: PS : Staying in the park.
