Monday I decided to get up at 3:30 am and drive to the Conowingo Dam to see if I can get some Bald Eagle Shots. The weather was to be mild and I had Monday off.
While the Eagles seemed more interested in building their nests and were not very cooperative, I did get some shots.
This group was shot with my 7D MKII and my Tamron 150 - 600 G1 lens on a tripod.
I opted to keep the power lines in the background of the first two images to maintain the perspective. After all, this is a working HydroElectric Dam.

Thanks for looking

Nice shots, but IMO, even though you were shooting in the vicinity of the power generating facility, the power lines are distracting and actually are diverting attention from your very well captured BIF.

I also think the power lines are a distraction. 3 good eagle images anyway.

You can!t take away something that was in the picture, if you do than you!r taking truth away, and it is not natural. Just saying

My primary computer with my editing software is down until tomorrow.
It blew a couple of cooling fans.
I will edit the image once it is back up and post.

Other than the power lines, what could be improved?
ie, exposure, composition, post. These are all crops.

I honestly believe I have taxed the limit of my lens.
I am looking for input from experienced birding photographers.
Brutal Honesty is better for me rather than being nice. This is how I learn.

Thanks

OK, here comes brutal honesty. They are outstanding photos in download. I'm glad we had that option because the low res versions didn't look promising.

You know, if the photographer was documenting the effect of the power station on the eagle habitat or its natural existence your point may be valid. But this isn't presented as a such and it is not a news photo, or an event documentary photo. Were it so, then editing out even distracting details is certainly an attempt to alter the truth.

If I were inclined to put this photo on my wall for display of the majesty and beauty of an eagle in flight, I'd want the power lines removed.

Hi Stan,
I fully agree regarding printing and putting it up on the wall.
Frankly, I do not consider them "print worthy".
I would love to get my hands on a L series 600mm lens and full frame camera and try again. That will not happen anytime soon however.

Posting here was to get them out in the wild and gain some feedback.
I will take the point regarding the lines as a valid criticism and fix it once my primary computer is back up and running.

Thank you.
George

I think the downloads look good.....nice capture of BIF....the power lines don’t keep me from enjoying the eagles....you obviously knew you can remove the power lines and elected not to to show here.
