Sometimes you can get lucky.
First full day in Jasper National Park (Alberta Canada). 10th September. Part of our North American vacation.
Both pics shot with a 70-300 lens on a 1.6 crop body, hand held.
#1 Just down the road (between Pocahontas & Malign River rd) from our cabin at Pocahontas.
We couldn't believe it. Shot from the road. with a 70-300 lens (F=70mm) on 1.6 crop body
#2 Up at Maligne Lake, after a walk along Maligne Canyon to the 5th bridge. We were pretty tired (and probably a bit jet laged) and had nap in our rental car.
We woke up to this!
There was a sprinkling white stuff on the ground (we hadn't seen fresh snow for at least 20 years) and I couldn't believe it when the red canoe sailed into the scene.
Thanks for looking.

Chance favors the prepared mind. Very nice catches.

Your images made getting up this AM worthwhile.
Thank you!
Both are beautiful photos, Richard. ' Color pop 'of the red canoe is very eye appealing.

Thanks - red tends to do that.
Number 1 is good but #2 is just stunning. Great composition, lighting, DoF, just everything. Great catch!

I'm with her. #2 is one of the few images that we will remember for a long time.
