I grew up shooting and developing black and white film (loved that Kodak Tri-X!) in my bathroom-based darkroom! Digital photography changed a lot of that, but there are still times when I look for a black and white shot.
This was shot at the base of Yosemite Falls. While it's quite impressive in color, I think the B&W treatment makes it even more so. There are people standing in a field toward the bottom of the photo - which really should be seen in download mode - that shows the enormity of the scene.
Nikon 1 J1, 10-30mm f/3.5-56 at 10mm, ISO 100, f/4.0 at 1/250. Converted to black and white using LR4.
