CHG_CANON posts prompted me to add this to the topics.
The lens used was an 85mm to take 5 images which were stitched in Photoshop, then PP for impact and cropped.

Excellent! Did you use a tripod?

thank you gentlemen!
Linda, when I got to the location the wind was blowing at at least 15 mph. The tripod I brought was a travel one and would have been almost useless so, those were hand held and I pushed the ISO up and the SS to 1/1000.

I'm guessing that stitching water waves was not easy. It turned out quite nice though.

That would be an interesting topic to pursue. How did you stitch the waves, Rich?

With enough wind to create those waves (and move branches) I would have expected the branch on the right to be problematic when it came to stitching, but it seems pretty sharp. I'm impressed by your willingness to put in all that work to do what a wide angle lens would have done in a single shot.

From personal experience, shooting panos of groups of people, stitching may give you a lot more pixels to work with.

It's a fine job and a lovely picture, but there is already a "Panorama" section in UHH--isn't this more appropriate there? Since most panoramas are of "landscapes" (I think), how are we to make a decision as to where to post them?

There is spillover in many sections. For example, close-ups are often posted in Gallery instead of the section devoted to close-ups. The Intro topic on Landscape home page hopefully helps explain the forum's purpose.

Further to what Linda said, the panorama in this thread was obtained using a relatively long focal length. It was posted to provide an exception to the generally accepted idea that wide angle is the way to go where landscapes are concerned. So the theme is specifically "landscape". The same theme is being repeated elsewhere in this section.

I originally posted this in the pano section and there I said that I was pleasantly surprised (or words to that effect) at how well Photoshop's program handled the waves. The wind swept lake was very choppy as you can tell from the white caps.

R.G., A wide angle lens would have reduced the size of the far shoreline trees an unacceptable amount and I wouldn't have been happy with that.
