I never get any good pictures at the beach, but these two I kind of liked. Love the beach, but it's just sand and water sometimes. Had a good time, and my kids and grandchildren do not understand why I am always taking pictures!!! They hide a lot.
Thought I fixed the horizon???????

WOW! Just love #1. I'm a beach person, too. Keep them coming, MDSmith. (If you are having problems with horizons with your software try Pecasa or Windows Live Photo Gallery. Both have great tools for correcting horizontal lines.)
I've taken the liberty of playing with your Florida Beach.
As you stated you were alone. So why not emphasise the emptyness by removing the couple on the far left? Now that we have an empty beach, let's strech it a little using free transform (Photoshop Elements 9) to increase the feeling of desolation. Finally crop top and bottom so as to put the (straightened) horizon on the upper third line. 5 minutes tops and hey presto. I hope you like the outcome but anyway pardon my intrusion.

Nice try but, in my opinion, the original is best.
What lens were you using?...If a wide angle, it may be the cause of the curved horizon
Interesting, and I always learn something from these posts. Thanks. I like the desolation look, but losing the clouds kind of bothers me. I always appreciate whatever you guys do, and you are not intruding; it's called Photography 101 for me. FYI: I straightened the horizon and the picked the wrong one when I posted. Duh!!!!!!!
The only reason I like the other one is because it's my family and the reflection in the water behind them. Thot that was neat, not the photo quality.
The clouds in #1 makes the shot. Please leave the cloulds
Thanks, I like the clouds, too.
I really like the first photo. The clouds are beautiful! The only thing I would do different is remove the sign.
Good idea, and I can take the faraway people out too.
The second photo is neat also; especially the reflection of your family.
