Interesting that you mention Wakodahatchee, I shoot their often. If I were to use a tripod there, I would not get about 90% of my shots. IMHO, the birds are so close and fly so fast that you will find that using a tripod prevents quick enough movement to get the shot. Also, a lot of folks use the elevated passage ways to walk, and if your tripod is not up against on of the hand rails you could find yourself blocking folks from going around you easily or worse, blocking a wheelchair.
Yes, I have also seen many folks with tripods with gimbal heads there, and I know they are missing a lot of shots. Besides, to move around you must either reset your legs, most people don't and they actually get in everyone elses way because they leave the legs extended.
I know you will make your own decision but if your shooting the 150-600 like MOST of us, including small folks, can get great shots without having to put it on a tripod.
Now if you were shooting say a 400 2.8, or a 500 or 600 f4, then you may well need a tripod. But with most lenses it is not necessary. Spend your money on quality glass instead.
Interesting that you mention Wakodahatchee, I shoo... (show quote)

outstanding comment - Yes I did get some good pictures hand held but low %. You are right, they do get in the way - I try and get there at 6:30-7 and out by 9 or so. hope to see you there - Grassy Waters walk Saturday the 15th. Have to rethink this a little for where/when I will use

I see you have gotten lots of good feedback, to help you decide. When I purchased the same lens, more than a year ago, they threw in the same gimbal. I have had absolutely no problems with it and in fact, even after trying out a friend’s Nest, never felt like I was missing anything. For me, my tripod was the thing that needed upgrading. Tomorrow, I should receive my new Induro CLT403. Good luck with your choice!

I too have the Movo and like it a lot. Especially for the money. Does just fine. Fits well on my RRS tripod.

Anyone have experience with Promaster GH25 vs Benro GH2- did not want to spend the $$ for Wimberly WH200. any other thoughts. will likely be on a Indurio CLT303 and Nikon D7500 with Tamron 150-600G2 or Nikon 80-200. appreciated

I just received my new Lensmaster RH-2 an hour ago. Substantial piece.

Saw recommendations on UHH going back quite some years and took the advice.

Pleased with the item for sure. Comes with two plates so one for my Tamron 150-600 and one for my Canon 18-300.

Have you considered Nest brand. It is what I use, on a Nest tripod. The US distributor for Nest Gimbal heads is MT Shooter here on UHH.

I heartily second this recommendation.
