Someone will probably ask me what this has to do with photography.
We live in Vermont and my sister lives in Florida. When we grew up
our mother use to make an apple cake. So recently I found the
original recipe and decided to make the cake. Part of my life has
been a hobby of baking. My sister must remember this with fond
memories but the only way she can at least see it was for me to
photograph it and send it to her in an e-mail. Maybe you don't know
that a photograph of a childhood memory can bring tears to your
eyes.

Nice. We do the same with our apple pies; share them via photos with those who know them well, but cannot partake.

My mother's apple cake was similar but rectangular, apples lined up like soldiers.

My mom has dementia but I still make her favorite cookies during the holidays and she remembers! Amazing what a taste or smell can do for the mind! Do you share the recipe.....it looks amazing!

Cream Butter, add sugar, salt and cream again.
Add Baking Powder
Add Flour a little at a time.
If dough gets still add a bit of milk

Press into a cookie sheet or round pan
Top with apple slices
Sprinkle with a mixture of Cinnamon & Sugar

Instead of cinnamon you can use some preserve

Bake a 375 until golden brown.
Anywhere from 35 to 50 minutes depending on the oven.

Do not overt bake or the dough will become hard.

Pixelmaster, here is a pix of an apple pie I made a few years ago. I still make them but they do a number on my waist line and cause my blood sugar to spike. ~FiddleMaker

Apple Cake is one thing but cheesecake.....I don't make them very often.

The second line sounds familiar - a Dirty Harry quote from a Clint Eastwood movie if my memory is correct.

If I were you, I'd upload to Shutterfly or some such service and make a plate of it with the date. Then you can gift it to your sister.

I have several plates with photos of meals that my husband made and gave them to him for Father's Day. Since they are so light in weight, I think that, as I get older, they will replace my china, and won't they make for interesting discussions with visitors!
