I first introduced my teen camera give away project back on oct.26. Before I get too far, I want to thank the gentleman who re wrote my ramblings ,and reposted it for me ,and made me look good. Many thanks. Sooo. Was asking my 12 yr. old grand daughter to go out with me do do some shots, see what we could find. She replied that she liked going out with me, BUT that she would like to learn to take pictures of people. Not really MY thing, but it got me to thinking.
So,again, me being me, I began to look in the phone book (does anybody but me still do that?) under photography. As expected, their were a number of them with different offerings. Made up a list of local photographers and went out to meet them. I presented to them my little ministry, showed them the cameras I was giving out. So far I've approached a wedding ,sports, and commercial photographers. To my delight ,each and everyone of them are more than willing to come to us and give of their talents.

We have had adults now asking to join us. Some want to get started in photography, others already have cameras, but want to move beyond picture taking. Soon as I can work out the logistics, we are going to offer photo workshops to the teens and anyone else who we can get to join us. This is turning out to be allot bigger than I would have ever considered. The teens have crazy scheduals after school .Some of the adults are still working while others are retired. (That would be nice. oh well),Got to print up flyers, parental permission slips, liability exemption forms, blah, blah, blah. It' all cool. I'm having a blast. Every one is eager to learn. That makes it all worth it. Give it a try. It's work, but it's a good feeling.

Great report! Best wishes for your efforts. Please let us know how things work out. It's something some of us retired folks could give a try.

I live in a small town in CT. It started out with just me. After I had given away 4 or 5 cameras,I started to think of places to go for some photo ops. There is a local state park not to far from me. Wadsworth falls. Good starting point.
I would stop by the houses of the kids, tell them what I had in mind ,discussed it with the parent(s). ALWAYS made sure there were at least 2 teens min. or it was a no go till we could make something work. Now we run it out of one of the rooms at our church. WE post prospective outings on the bulletin board for our in houses kids. I either call, text, or go by the houses of those kids who don't attend our church.t's open to anyone.

we have done draft horse rehab farms, water falls, peoples home gardens, whatever. I'm planning a macro shoot th coming summer at my house. My wife does a real nice garden, and we have a couple small waterfalls close by. Also planning a texture or still life exercise to be done on their own at home, then getting together to see what we all have done.Gives them a chance to express themselves as individuals.

What a good person you are. I bet the parents love you knowing that their children are safe with you and your wife and doing something engaging and keeping out of mischief.

Jim MacMahon: I'm 67, my partner is 73. No spring chickens. The teens don't seem to be bothered by our age differences. Some of our adults are retired also. We seem to mix it up pretty well.

Great! Even better as both age groups can learn from each other.
