I was wondering if it’s the same lens that came with my D500. If so, it’s an f/4, not a 2.8-4.
I don't know what lens came with your D500. My D500 came with a Nikkor 16-80 f/2.8-4 lens.
Although not the clearest images, here is the lens that came packaged as the kit lens to my D500. If this isn't proof enough, I do have the the boxes and everything that came with the purchase down in my basement.
Can't argue with that...!
I have bought gray market stuff from them with no problems.

So have I but I didn't feel it was worth mentioning. I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who has conquered Abe's of Maine.
Would I buy a big ticket item from them or one of their sale kits? Probably not. I remember an add they ran several years ago. It was for a Canon EOS 6D kit with all the usual junk accessories and mini tripod and assorted carp that made the picture look cool. Problem was, the extra lens they were throwing in to make it a great deal was, apparently unbeknownst to them, an EF-S lens. As my buddy bugs would say, ehhh, what a bunch of ultra maroons.

You see that a lot on here. It's how our language "progresses" thru the ages. It's how coupon became kyoopon.

(V)arious suppliers ... offer the lense new at list price of $1,069.95.
.. Abe's of Maine... offers the lense new for $655....
Is this price too good to be true? ..
Thanks
ANSWER: Absolutely and unequivocally, YES. Do a search on this site about Abe's of Maine. You'll see that you should run, don't walk, away from them. They have the worst reputation of any camera dealer/seller known to the internet.
Oh, on a lighter note, stand by to get your knuckles rapped by the spelling police on this site regarding the spelling of "lense"....

Got a question: I want to buy a NIKKOR 16-80mm f/2.8-4 lense.
I've been using Google to research various suppliers of the lense. Many of them offer the lense new at list price of $1,069.95
Now, on Abe's of Maine, it offers the lense new for $655:
https://www.abesofmaine.com/Nikon_AF-S_DX_NIKKOR_16-80mm_f_2_8-4E_ED_VR_Lens_1029042.html Is this price too good to be true? Could the lense be a gray market item, and if so, is a gray market item of good quality?
Can anyone offer comments that could shed light on this scenario?
Thanks
