Without that steady voltage the alternator will go wide open because it can't sense any voltage to regulate, it only needs temporary voltage to energize it.

Sorry here about your flat battery my neighbour had a Honda a few years ago had same problem as you and this kept happing to him.Ended up their was a drain somewhere he got it sorted at the garage it was hard thing to find it cheesed him right off ended up trading it in.If I see him later I will ask him if he can tell me what caused the problem and let you no.
