Frankly, I think they’re both great shots. Especially love the first one. I’d be proud if I’d donw as well.

More Experimenting with the Tamron 150-600 G2

All one color has problems of its own. And with birds that is esp true of all white or all black.

These crows were part of a murder that came in, cleaned out most of the peanuts and then left.

The first one is on my retaining wall at about 70-75 feet, in shade just to make the black feathers even more of a challenge. I used flash and even though the surroundings were over exposed the crow still came out black. I corrected most of the over exposure in PP.
The second was about 15 feet closer but otherwise things were the same.

#1 5DIV, Tamron 150-600 G2 @ 600, 1/200 @ f/8.0, ISO 800 with flash off tripod at 75', center point AF and partial center weighted exposure.
#2 all the same except distance about 60'

Yes Black is hard to work with. I just finished making a hat band from black fur and it wasn't easy. But that first shot is absolutely fabulous. It conveys such meaning!! Look at that gaze turned downward..looking at something...or contemplating the sins of the world!!!

Thanks a lot.
Contemplating the peanuts on the feeder about 8 feet lower than the top of the wall he is on and around 10-12 feet away.

Of course we could pretend it is a Raven and saying "Nevermore!". But then my name isn't Poe so we will leave it to each person's imagination.
