Hi Steve: Welcome to the forum... I don't shoot with the Canon Sx20 but for what there are they are a good camera the 12 plus megapixel resolution is nothing to be ashamed of and the flip out rotating display/viewfinder is a great feature. Throw in the 13 primary shooting modes you have a great entry level camera. I still haven't covered all the features of the camera.
Steve,
I've been using the SX20 for about 2 yrs. Before that, I used 2 other previous SX models and loved them all. I'm a retired professional (from film-using cameras) and decided I didn't need to carry heavy SLR's w/lenses around anymore and am having more fun with these. In fact, I just ordered the new SX40, due to arrive next week.
I have a PS SX200IS 12 px. and I love it! When I'm out and about, I take it and my t3i and I end up using it as much as the t3i.

Go to any of the photo sellers sites and google SX40HS for the newest. There is a possibility that a "50" may be coming out. I had the "10", then upgraded to the "40". Both excellent cameras. My friend has the "20" and really likes it.
