Canon flash probem

How can I get my 580 flash IR to work on my
60D. I can see the red light for my Olympus
Flash but not the canon. I though the IR would
aid the flash focus in low light. I am shooting
in TTL and P mode, am I doing something wrong?

If I remember correctly, there is a setting in the camera under the Custom Function Menu - C. Fn. III 2 - AF Point Selection Method. The menu item should be the 10th one from the left.

-0: AF point selection button: Activate AF select Multi-Controller: Select AF point
-1: AF point selection button: Auto selection Multi-Controller: Manual selection

I hope this helps, I always check the setting first.

Go to your flash control menu, External Flash C-Fn settings, and enable Auto focus Assist beam. That should do it.
