Three new shots of a large Red Tail Hawk taken yesterday and one old favorite. I spotted a Coopers Hawk fly onto a tree and when I got there the Coopers Hawk was dwarfed by a huge Red Tail siting on the top branch of the same tree. I lost interest in the Coopers Hawk and experimented with my new camera.

#4 and old favorite taken at another location eating an American Coot!
Excellent set, love the pose in the last shot.
how close were you as I am having trouble getting my shots of hawks clear and I have the same gear as you. I think I am too far away and have to crop too much. Great shots.
Wonderful catches, and I appreciate you sharing your settings and gear. Gracias.

I was able to get very close, so I only had to crop a little! I have only had the camera for a couple of weeks and still experimenting. Had set two back buttons for focus. one AI servo and the other one shot. I just changed both to AI servo. one is Af surround and the 2nd Auto selection 65 pt for fast birds in open sky. The AI servo is so good I don't seem to need one shot for static birds. I will only use it for portraits now. This all may change as I experiment! LOL I also seem to have had the best luck with case 1 selection mode which is the default. Thanks for viewing Dave and good luck!
