Australia has two species of spoonbills, 'Black billed' & 'Yellow billed'. They are virtually the same except for the color of their bills & legs. However, the neck 'mane' on the males is much more pronounced on the Black billed (see #2). Downloading is recommended.

Earl, I never knew there were black billed Spoonbills. The P1000 sure did the job showing off the mane of the "old male" and the sharpness in a DDL is as sharp as it would be with any top of the line camera. Thank you.

Greg

Good shots, Earl. Those birds are not very handsome are they?
Thanks for the backstory.

Both are great shots w/ beautiful subjects. The male in #2 is just spectacular. Almost otherworldly. Gary
