Juvenile Cooper's Hawk (??) in a Rare Pose

For several reasons and with much thought, I am labeling this guy a Cooper's but I realize I may be looking at a Sharpie. Anyway, I have never had one pose for me out in the open, like this one on top of a telephone pole. It wasn't til I got home that I realized that I got this first shot, and it really made me laugh. It was a bit breezy, just a little bit.

Fun! This is a good series Katy, and I think your ID is correct.

A bad feather day for sure. Great shot. I agree with your ID. FYI Sharpies tend to be more secretive than Cooper's. In my 60+ years birding I could probably count on one hand the numbers of Sharpies I have seen sitting on poles, posts or other exposed locations. They are usually just inside heavy cover from which they dash out to make (or miss) a kill and retreat back to cover to eat the kill.
