Was that 'to see the universe in a grain of sand,' or was that 'emotion reflected in tranquility'? I so easily get those ode time Brit poets mixed up....

Great! Have you tried a B&W conversion? Hmmmm, I just tried that on it my self via your reduced file, still looks really good to me. Also your exposure seems to be right-on!

Tried all the B&W pre-sets in PS Express and could not get a satisfying result. B&W-ing will take a full-fledged application, like Photoshop. No canned routines, I 'spect.

Mainly due to your suggestion, O Minty One, and partly out of curiosity, I did a B&W conversion of the first image. Don't think its horrible, but.... it looks like an image that was seen first in color then later converted to B&W. I didn't do what should rightly have been done, i.e., I didn't start from scratch from the raw file, and even with a few local adjustments made to the version I posted, the attached re-do still has technical flaws that could've been eliminated. Biggest problem is its lack of crispness, and the lens I used (I found in testing) lacks that. Ordinarily we --or at least I-- expect to see large format style crispness in a B&W print, and this image doesn't measure up, no matter what is done to it tonally. Color is often more forgiving than B&W generally is; the brain makes allowances that the eye refuses let slip past.
