SD card information.
Can someone explain or refer me/us to a site that explains the different meanings of the info listed on an SD card? I did go through the search process and didn’t find the answer I wanted. I know the storage size listed, but little else (very confusing). I only recently learned of the lock feature on these cards thanks to an older manual (was not in my D3400 info) and this site.
Did you check your manual for the compatible cards for your camera?
Thank you. That explained so much more than the camera manual does. And it appears a number of members agree with your go to choice.

I did and it only mentions SD, HC, Class and capacity. Then when going to a site to purchase, you are given much more than mentioned and now totally confused (at least I was). My Nikon D3400 package came with a card, so no problem. I then bought a used Nikon D80 and needed a card. That manual gave more info, but still fell short in detail. When I had a point and shoot it was simpler. But, thank you for the friendly reminder about the manual. In our haste, we sometimes forget about the first place we should look.
Page 122 of the D80 manual is quite specific as to the main guidelines. I get the cards for both my D80 and D7100 at Best Buy, and if and when I have questions, the employees are very knowledgeable and helpful. The manual says : "All cards of the designated make and capacity can be used regardless of speed". I think that's all you need to know!
Good luck! Enjoy the D80!

Just want to thank the many members who helped me become more knowledgeable on this subject with thier input. Just one of many reasons for joining and loving this site.
