Nice. A little heavy on the saturation for me though.

Thanks Longshadow! I tried to recreate the scene as I remembered it.

Fall in NJ came and went so fast. Seems like we're getting just 2 seasons anymore: Summer and Winter. Looks best in download - hope you enjoy.

Yeah, they have a whole lot more animals down in South Carolina now where I come from. We have always had snakes galore down there, copper heads, cotton mouths, timber rattlers just to name three. Here in Utah we have all sorts of animals. I haven't made any effort to go out and photograph any of them, however. If I go into the back country I carry a rifle.

I am an invader of 46 years from NY to NJ. The changes since 1972 have been dramatic. Yes, this year's fall folliage was a disappointment.

There are 2 species of "toxic snakes" in NJ. The timber rattled and copperhead. Both are puny creatures compared to snakes in other parts of the country. They are also very reclusive, they don't want to be seen. As a physician in NJ I had the opportunity to treat several people who got themselves involved, none really did too badly. There are so many more hawks in the air than I ever remember!

The weather has been startling. One day it can be frigid, the next day you could play golf! We used to have draught, now the ground is super saturated and we fear floods.

The Watchung Mountains are really three ridges, with a 400 foot height maximum, running basically NE to SW in the northern half of NJ. As a teen I hunted and fished on them, and camped overnight, but after the Korean conflict, the area became too populous for just wandering.
Small streams have disappeared, and now there are only four stream/rivers capable of being stocked with trout. Deer are overly abundant, presenting the usual problems. Black bear have limited hunting restrictions, sometimes not allowed at all.
Copperheads were what I worried about, but I understand timber rattlers might be present.
Some of the fauna info could be outdated. I haven't lived in NJ, except temporarily, since 1953.
Amazingly enough, about 80% of NJ was rural 60 years ago, and probably well over 50% today. NJ is the most densely populated state per square mile in the United States, yet it is the only state where every county is classified as urban by federal government standards.
TMI?

The rains we've had in NJ this year make me think we're living in Seattle - my basement flooded for the first time since Hurricane Sandy.
