I'll send you her phone number.

Hey John,

Get what you want! You are here only once.

Enjoy your new purchase.

No, there isn't. Either buy the lens you want, or get rid of all your photo gear. I've discovered that lenses work indoors, too.

I think of what I have and don't use. It generally works well for me.

Wrong, now you still have GAS but can not afford any relief. (I did not say cure as there is none.)

As long as you can pay your bills,if any and can take care of the basics go for it. Enjoy it now because you can’t take it with you.

I see to reason to buy stuff that won't be used, even though the the initial purchase might give me a bit of a thrill. I'm intimately familiar with a hoarder and have a touch of it myself. I can't agree with "As long as you can pay your bills,if any and can take care of the basics go for it. Enjoy it now because you can’t take it with you." Learn to use what you have before seeking some gadget or gizmo for your next photography gear
fix.

Rent one and go out and shoot with it. I had GAS for the top of the line Olympus and the Pro 40-150 lens. I was able to try it out at an Olympus event. It was too heavy and many of my photos tilted to the left. GAS attack cured!

Just because you buy stuff doesn't make you a hoarder. I like to buy stuff, and when I find somebody who can use stuff I no longer use I give it to them. I figure if I can afford to let it sit idle I can afford to give it away, no strings attached. I consider that a win-win. Somebody gets something they can use, and I am prepared for my next gas attack.

If you can, share more than your photos.

Yeah - I was going to say give you SPOUSE all of your money "to hold on to for you". It will disappear!

Thanks everybody for all the great advice. I can see how all of you have solved your GAS problems in your own way with satisfaction. Someone ask if I was up there - yes the 90 is days behind me. Mobility without a cane is dicey and holding a camera with one hand does add wiggle.Sigh.

Two suggestions:
1. Empty your pockets every evening and put any loose change and $1 bills into a jam jar. When your 'GAS' tank is full, go out and buy the lens. By the time you have the cash, some other 'must have' will have come around and you will be able to indulge guilt free.

2. Ignore the guilt. Unless you need the money for your heart meds, go and get the lens. There are no pockets on a shroud - you can't take the $$$s with you and it may get you out and about more.

Sage advice! I have a jar that holds about $120 in coins. In the 80’s whenever it got full I would go play a round of golf at Pebble Beach, when their green fees were about $80. Now a round costs $525, and I pay for everything with a credit card ... so no change goes in the jar. So now I just think about those rounds at Pebble Beach ... and my scores get better and better each year.
