Very nice series. Particularly your first shot. Taking what looked like a dreary day and giving it some life and interest

Thank you Frank. One never knows how successful efforts like that will be. Seeing a scene with your own eyes and liking it doesn't guarantee that a shot will have general appeal.

Hi, Coz,
A great series...just too short!
I particularly like#2, centered on the twin stone arch bridges...beautiful as posted and offering a number of laudable crops as well.
My one excursion, meandering slowly south-to-north through Wester Ross fostered memories of high moorland with innumerable granitic bedrock protrusions...totally un-arable land suited but to being browsed by sheep or small numbers of cattle. That sort of terrain is identical to some found in Northern NY State overlooking the St.Lawrence river. More than a few Scottish names in that area...and I’ll bet I know where they likely came from to feel at home there!

Thanks for posting!
Does my heart good!

Hi Coz in the Territories. You're right about #2 - it's two separate bridges. The Scots were good candidates for the Colonies because they were used to hardship and making poor land habitable. The inhabitants of Northern New York state could be descended from any of the Scots that were displaced during the Clearances. Glad you enjoyed the series. I'll just have to get back out there as soon as possible .

Very nice set, RG! From the title , I now wonder if George R.R. Martin was inspired by this area in the naming of his "Game of Thrones" world.

Thank you Mike. I'm not familiar with Game of Thrones but I can see the similarity to Westeros. There's also an Easter Ross, not so different from Essos.

I really like the first one. The second shot is interesting with those double bridges. I'm not sure about the third shot. While I usually like mist , I think there might have been just a tab too much dynamic range in the scene. The mist is exposed nicely; but then the white water seems a bit blown out. Not sure what could be done about that. The whole series has a strong sense of place. I was interested in Dave's comment because my wife and I are planning a camping trip next summer to the area he was describing. I'll keep these photos in mind when I'm there.

Thanks for commenting, Erich. I think the problem with the water in the last one is softness rather than brightness. It's a combination of slow shutter speeds and the fact that it's a merge of bracketed shots. The lack of detail is due to the softness. I could possibly find more luminosity detail to extract but it's not something I was concerned about since I knew the shutter speeds were slow. I also liked that the slow shutter speed emphasises the volume of flow. The stream was in spate at the time.
