I have the Canon T2si with the 2 kit lenses 18-55 and 55-250. Both lenses were good for starters but I will be doing more indoor shooting (2d camera/wedding and casino parties for friend). I have also invested in a Canon Speedlite 430ex.
I would really appreciate your suggestions and recommendations for upgrading the 18-55.

thanks

dspoon2, I shoot Canon as well and if your budget can support it, you cannot go wrong with L lenses. Gary

Best and most versatile lens for weddings is the 24-70 F/2.8L

Ditto this. Look for a used one since the new version II is way over priced. The older version is awesome and you'd be hard pressed to see any difference in image quality.

There are times (but rarely) that during a wedding one could use a wider than 24mm lens. Problem is that the distortion of people becomes extremely unacceptable with these wider lenses. Put that lens on a 1.3 crop factor , or a full frame camera . . and you can really have problems. I would guess that there are maybe 5 shots in a whole wedding that I could really use a wider lens . . . but the inconveniences far outweigh the advantages for few shots.

Just my 3 cents worth (after shooting over 1500 weddings)

I've been looking at this. I will probably rent one for the September wedding as I search for a good used one....any suggestions on a good vendor for used Canon lenses?

Look at the Canon store for refurbished, as well as Adorama and B&H. Gary

All that you say is true, BUT Would rather have the ability to go wider when needed than not - but I have only done 100 weddings .....

Last week I "Borrowed" a 12-24mm for my 1.5 crop. I was in a tight spot and needed it. The distortion was very appearant below 14-16 mm, otherwise I liked it alot and am now thinking of buying one. Much of the distortion can be fixed in Capture One 6 Pro anyways.
