Has anyone purchased a lens from Lens Authority?

I am looking to purchase an "L" zoom lens. Brand new it is $2099. B&H has it for $1799. Canon refurbished on their website it is $1679. Lens Authority has it for $1470 with cosmetic rated as excellent and glass rated as excellent. Performance says passed. Would I be taking a big risk trying to save $200 going this route? I checked the forum and didn't find much and Googled reviews on this company. I have purchased both my cameras and all my lenses through Canon's refurbished site, but I wanted the opinion here on UHH. Thanks in advance.

A quick review of Reseller Ratings shows this company to be quite good.

Here is the link: https://www.resellerratings.com/store/Lensauthority_com

Maybe someone with better experience can chime in and add their thoughts.

Excellent source - they are affiliated with Lens Rental - they are very accurate on their descriptions and from what I've seen, overly cautious with their ratings - they lower a rating for a flaw that I couldn't even see - works out to be a benefit for the customer though...

One note - they have a short inspection period (3 days) compared to Adorama, B&H and Cameta's 30 day period...

I would buy the Canon refurbished. Lens Authority is mostly a rental place. They sell their rentals as used. anon will have essentially made the lens you buy refurbished as equivalent to new. Worth the extra $200

The lens authority lens will have far more use but it's very likely it'll be sharper because Lens Rentals does more diligent testing than most camera manufactures and the do this testing on all their lenses.

I really do not know why ANYONE would pay more for a used lens than Canon sells it for refurbished. LA's price seems fair for used in 9 or better condition.

I have been using the reseller called MPB www.mpb.com and they have excellent results for me. Got an order into them right now for a Canon 15-85mm.

Have had no issues with their customer support or my purchase of a Nikon 1.4 III teleconverter. As said above they are the selling unit of Lens rentals. Would buy again

LensAuthority.com is a stand-alone company founded by the same people who founded and operate LensRentals.com.
Purchased a Nikon D700 ir converted from them, it was as advertised.
Hope this helps.
Cheers ron

You may want to look into Lens Rentals keeper program. You rent a lens then if you decide you want to keep it the rental fee is deducted from the final price. One point about Lens Rentals/Authority... they have a skiled group of repair personell on staff to keep all their equipment in top notch condition as well as state of the art testing equipment to insure premium results from their inventory. As I understand it each item is tested upon return to be sure it is in spec before it goes out again. I purchased a Canon 50mm f1.4 from the that said it was "good condition" and it was in mint condition to my eye.

Supposedly their lenses go through an inspection and testing before they are sold. Some of the lenses have been heavily used but in good shape.

I bought a Nikkor lens from them and happily found the lens condition to be significantly better than they had rated it.

I checked them out. Their prices seem pretty good, and their warranty is about the same as others'.

Might take a peek at KEH. They are offering a one year warranty on a lot of what they have. I bought a RX10 rated (bgn) (bargain) for $300 +/- and it came with a one year warranty. Has a couple of scratches on LCD but everything works as they should and the images are great. I think their return time is 14 days.
