After enjoying reading the varied general posts here for a couple of months I thought I'd "take the plunge" and join in ! You seem to be having so much fun, which is my reason for having this interest in photography. Along the journey if I can improve my knowledge and skills, maybe help others a little, then all the better ! I'm a Nikon DSLR owner and have a Panasonic GF1 for those occasions when a DSLR is too much to carry or too obtrusive !! I'm UK resident, but have made numerous visits to the USA .... always enjoyable. On we go .....
Welcome, looking forward to seeing your photos.

Welcome Craggy, As you say this site is fun and very addictive. We help each other as much as we can, some of the comments can be a little barbed. It's all meant to help so, as the Brits say, 'Keep Calm and Keep Going'. One or two of us old guys have problems with the calm stuff. Good to see you here.

Hi and welcome to Ugly Hedgehog! I've only been on this a couple of weeks myself. I'm new to photography, I've got a Nikon D5100. I'm just taking my time to get to know the camera. :D

Years ago, I had the opportunity attend a course on community development at the University of London. My wife and I with our three children rented a house in Staplehurst for the term. We also rented a car and drove all over your wonderful country. It was a great experience and left us with a "feel good" impression.
Welcome to the UHH

Welcome aboard. Your welcome here in the colones any time.
Hi and thanks for your welcome.
I'm spending a couple of days in the "Olympic City". No tickets I'm afraid, so unable to even get into the Olympic Park, never name any events ! But I'm close and revelling in the atmosphere and the HUGE numbers of people here from all around the world. I have some photos in the camera and will try to put some interesting ones on site when I eventually get home. Thanks again for your welcome.
The above "hello back and thanks" is extended to everyone who has taken, or will take, the opportunity to welcome me !
To Baggie,
I have Nikon D300 ..... and would just like to say "keep in touch" if you want. It's always great to know people with a similar interest, whether on these shores or foreign ! Geoff
To twitcher32,
Hi and thanks for your kind remarks about GREAT Britain !! We are only small geographically, but seem to be able to have a mostly large and beneficial effect wherever we go. Can't help but mention as well where we currently stand in the Olympics medal table !! Hope you're all enjoying these London Games !!
