The Ohio Legislature has finally lost their collective minds.
They have introduced a bill that would punish women getting a******ns with the death penalty. They have no exceptions for rape or incest.
Although the governor will probably veto this bill and the Supreme Court will declare it unconstitutional, I think it gives us a window into the minds of these people.
However, in view of the possibility of it passing I would like to add the following section"

When a male person impregnates a female with an unwanted child, that male shall be in violation of this law and there shall be a presumption of intent to impregnate. Thus that male, after a DNA test has confirmed that it is his fetus shall be punished by being put to death.

There. That evens the score.

The Ohio GOP is beyond nuts.

That's pretty extreme. Though no less extreme than the millions of innocent lives lost every year for personal convenience.

Seriously Rose, you need to check the science before you make a statement like that.

True, the need for that is definitely there. what's lacking is the willingness.

It begins at fertilization. That's science - and not all scientists agree. You can easily find something to support your position.

Sure it's up to the woman but its also up to you whether you want to harm another human.

True. Some "scientists" still believe the Earth is flat. Out of curiosity, which position do you take on whether the Earth is flat, Rose?

ABSTRACT: The predominance of human biological research confirms that human life begins at conception—fertilization. At fertilization, the human being emerges as a whole, genetically distinct, individuated zygotic living human organism, a member of the species Homo sapiens, needing only the proper environment in order to grow and develop. The difference between the individual in its adult stage and in its zygotic stage is one of form, not nature. This statement focuses on the scientific evidence of when an individual human life begins.

The American College of Pediatricians concurs with the body of scientific evidence that corroborates that a unique human life starts when the sperm and egg bind to each other in a process of fusion of their respective membranes and a single hybrid cell called a zygote, or one-cell embryo, is created.

Conception doesn't even take place until implantation. Whenever you believe life begins, it can't be before conception. If your belief comes from religious belief, I have no interest in arguing about it. If not, it doesn't seem rational to me. Also, you obviously didn't read the whole article you linked to. Either that, or you are being dishonest.

Also from the article: “However, what is controversial is whether this genetically unique cell should be considered a human person.”

What's interesting is what you find most interesting.

Apparently its NOT the part about "punish women getting a******ns with the death penalty," that you found most interesting.

Seems to me we should be more interested in when a fetus becomes a person than on when life begins. Scientists tend to say life does not begin. Life is a continuum. Eggs are alive and so are sperm. We consider a person who has been alive to be dead when there is no brain function. A man whos heart is beating is alive, but is he still a person. Plugs get pulled everyday.

What I found interesting is that all parties in the discussion apparently did not read the article or do a little Google homework, they just jumped into a knife without sharpening their weapons. you included.

I sat this evening and watched an hour of CNN then I watched an hour of Fox, there should be no question in anyone's mind as to the source of discourse in our nation and who has control of our thoughts. The Cable Networks are playing a game of Monopoly with our minds, their warped biased opinion is their weapon and high ratings bring higher rewards from their sponsors.
