This Jay came right after I put out more peanuts and got one. But somehow doesn't look too satisfied. Well a murder of crows had cleaned out the first batch so maybe the Jay was worried they would hijack his peanut.
80D, Tamron 150-600 G2 @ 600, 1/250 @ f/8.0, ISO 400 flash in heavy shade off tripod at about 60 feet
Focus seems just a hair off, may need calibration. My G1 and 7DII didn't play well together until Tamron and Canon came out with firmware fixes - same lens was spot on with 6D FF - will try it on my 5DIV.
Anyone having trouble with grayed out menus in Photo Shop after the last upgrade - I am - Adobe "aware" and working on it - work around is open PS first then send images from Light Room.

Jerry, love the photo.

I have a lot of jays in he area but they never give me a photo opportunity. I have peanuts so I will put some out and see if it helps.

thanks a lot

Evil thought of the day: Put a drop of crazy glue on the peanut shell and press it onto the feeder. Longer to photo the bird while it gets the peanut. But also have to clean the feeder to get rid of glued on bits of shell.

Thank you.

No, my flash has a guide number of 60 (that is in meters) when on manual and full power. I do own a better beamer but wasn't using it.

Focus looks great to me, Jerry, and what a beautiful shot of your peanut eater!

Was joke comrade, was joke!

Beside if someone who works for the government sees this they might actually write a regulation to cover it.

I love the shot, Robert. do the jays save some for the squirrels, and do you have a peanut feeder?

Nice photo. It looks like razor sharp focus to me. The small DOF is obvious but the head and most of the body is sharply focused to my eye.

Thank you.
The jays and woodpeckers want all of them. The squirrels and crows will come along and grab what ever they can. In the case of the crows that means all of them if enough show up. The squirrels do have a problem named "Tara", my little Jack Russell mix (9 years old this month so slowing down) who at the word "squirrel" will come out of a nap and be halfway to the feeders before her eyes are fully open.
No special feeder, I just put some on flat surfaces with the other bird food. - wall top, old lawn chair, floor of the play house/fort on top of the old swing set or my home made feeder from a terra cotta saucer. Those things are useful, they make bird baths and feeders in addition to holding water for potted plants.
