Can I pull the old 1TB Sandisk SSD from my Lenovo Y520 and install it in my new computer?
It will not work if the aim is to preserve what is on the Y520 disk.
You can clone the new computer's hard drive to the Y520 ssd, erasing what was originally on the ssd,
and the ssd will work in place of the drive that came on the new computer..
Any vital data from the Y520 must be saved for transfer before cloning if you do not want to lose it.
I sent you a PM about how I did a similar, backup/installation of a new SSD.

My system is backed up on Backblaze. It looks like the way to go would be to buy the least expensive system with 16GB of RAM, 1 TB HDD and 128GB SSD. Then buy a 500GB SSD and install it in place of the 128GB model, buy another 16GB chip and add it to the 16GB I already have for a total of 32 GB.
The tricky part is to mirror Windows 10 from the 128GB to the 500GB and cross my fingers. I used a DVD I bought from Best Buy to copy my old HDD on my Y520 to the Sandisk 1 TB SSD I purchased.
Sorry, if this is a dumb Question: Can I pull the old 1TB Sandisk SSD from my Lenovo Y520 and install it in my new computer?

I have a cheap drive dock I use to access drives from retired computers. Do a search for "universal hard drive docking station" they often can be found well under $50.00.
