American Redstart Warbler, Blue Passion Flower, Blue My Mind Flower, Monarchs, and a Long-tailed Skipper
The Hen American Redstart Warbler was a new bird to us that stopped by in October and although it didn't frighten easily I never was able to make the shots that I would have liked to. It seemed that I was never in the right place at the right time, but the best opportunity came when she was bathing at the birdbath one day. I took 5 or 6 shots that would have had some potential but when I viewed them on the monitor there was a horizontal white streak through the center (image number 2) of each and then I realized that I had moved our bench/ picnic table off the pier to protect it from the possible hurricane and it was right in line with the background so they all had a Cape Cod Gray color streak! sm03: Oh well, maybe next fall!

Thanks maggiemae and really appreciate you looking and the first flower is the Blue passion flower and we purchased it locally a flower shop near Williamsburg, Virginia! The information attached to the plant stated that it would endure temperatures into the 20's so we did not expect it to come back so this year and purchased a Maypop variety which is somewhat different and will winter over in cold weather. It was a very small plant as we ordered it online, and it never grew enough to produce blooms this year, but to our surprise, a number of the blue passionflowers came up this spring I think from seed and several of the larger plants produced many blooms and even saw one bloom several days ago. The blooms on the passion flowers last only about a day so what we like about the blue variety is that it is a prolific bloomer and am not that familiar with the maypop variety, but do know that its blooms resemble a hybrid variety that we purchased from Florida several years ago that has a very beautiful bloom but was not nearly the prolific bloomer as the blue one! Any way to make a short story long, you should purchase one variety at least because the passion flowers are the host plant for the beautiful Gulf Fritillary butterflies and they may be in your location--we are unfortunately just a little too far north! I will try to send you two images of the flowers, the first being the blue and the second being the hybrid which I think will be similar to the Maypop bloom
